Inspired by Paul Laffoley’s visionary fusion of occult symbolism, sacred geometry, and speculative architecture, this theoretical wellness facility translates “sound-forms” into immersive spatial experiences. The project consists of seven installation nodes, each embodying one of the body’s chakras.
Each chakra’s corresponding audio frequency was manipulated and then visualized using analog video synthesizers and feedback loops- producing luminous, mandala-like patterns. These dynamic video loops were then extruded into animated three-dimensional forms by designer and collaborator Jason Hsu, transforming ephemeral light and sound into moving forms. I then used stills taken from these videos as seeds or form givers to each node.
Visitors would journey sequentially through the seven nodes —from the grounding red tones of the root chakra to the transcendent violet resonance of the crown—each calibrated to its specific audio frequency and color spectrum.
Resonant frequencies would induce meditative states, aligning bodily energy centers continuously with architectural form. The facility would operate as both a healing environment and a city scale “psychotronic device,” echoing Laffoley’s belief in art as a transformative technology of consciousness. By materializing sound and vision into inhabitable geometry, the project realizes architecture as a portal to expanded awareness and creates a continuous meditation on the transmutable nature of energy.
